GRANT WRITING  I


.        D A Y   O N E        .                     8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

In this session, the fundamentals of this empowering method of grant writing arepresented.  Participants will discover what a grant proposal evaluator looks for when reviewing applications.  You will be shown how to prepare & structure your organization's documentation to streamline the grant application process.  The instructor will present budgets & budgent narratives, as well as the standard language & components of grant applications, and most importantly, how to demonstate links between your organization's objectives and the funders' mission statements.

 

GRANT WRITING  II

This session features hands-on grant writing practice with peer review.  You will learn, step-by-step, how to complete concise grant applications, and the importance of incorporating project management & evaluation into your proposal.  Highlighted topics include, funding resources, accounting practices, large dollar grants, federal applications, cover letters, effective communications with the funder.  Exemplary case studies will be presented.  Grant Writing as a career, and the development & structuring of a Non Profit organization will be introduced.


Following this training participants will be able to:

  • List 7 activities in which an organization should be involved to successfully access grants.
  • List at least 10 items of a well structured organization's documentation, that are essential for preparing grant applications.
  • Discuss the structure of a well organized non profit company and the roles of Board and Staff.
  • Interpret and analyze the language of funding announcements and grant application guidelines.
  • Describe the required criteria of an Objective Statement.

 Following this training participants will be able to:

  • Define and develop compatible Client Oriented Problem & Goal Statements.
  • Compare and contrast an RFP, Letter of Inquiry, Letter of Proposal, Concept Letter, and Common Grant Applications.
  • Discuss the steps recommended
    for the completion of Foundation Grants.
  • List 10 grant sources and identify search methods to locate funding opportunities appropriate for a specific projects.
  • Develop Objectives for a specified goal that incorporates program evaluation concepts.
  • Read, analyze & draft at least one foundation grant, one state government grant, or one federal grant (up to $50,000 each).
  • Complete federal grants.
